Speed dating isn't a subject Clark ever though he'd explore - in depth or otherwise. But thanks to the machinations of his boss, one Tess Mercer, he's found himself down at a local coffee shop near the Daily Planet on an afternoon he'd rather be home bailing out hay for the livestock or repairing fences like he was this morning. The whole dating thing in general makes him nervous, to be honest, because he's never been particularly good about it. The nice thing about hands-free phone and voice texts is being able to argue with someone, and other people, while braving the afternoon traffic across town to rescue them from the police. Or, in Lois' case, the impound yard currently holding her car hostage. Clark isn't quite sure what state the employees are in when he finally rolls into the parking lot and finds a space reasonably close to the door, but he figures the quicker he gets inside, the easier it will be to prevent (more) verbal battery and possible bloodshed.

With this in mind he makes a beeline for the front counter instead of looking around, taking a rare cue from the General. Sometimes it really is better to follow the chain of command. "Hi, I'm here to pick up Lois Lane?"
